The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking (1962), Dale Carnegie

A timeless work from one of the most influential speakers of the mid-century, The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking takes you through the lifecycle of developing a public presentation. Throughout the book Carnegie reinforces the importance of effective speaking and shows you how to approach the task. Whether you are already scheduled to speak or have no intentions of doing so, this book will be an invaluable tool in advancing your career.
Carnegie is one heck of an effective communicator and because of that I can recommend this book to anyone that can read. It is easy to read, easy to understand and best of all is short to the points that need to be made.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (1989), Steven Covey

A highly recommended book for anyone wishing to be highly effective in life. Steven Covey finds an effective balance of motivation and logic as he lays out the seven habits an effective person must routinely practice. This book not only presents those habits it does so in a chronological order that makes sense and is easily understood.

Of course, this book should be read by everyone although I encourage readers to pick it up before entering adulthood and before those bad habits are attached.

Mere Christianity (1952), C.S. Lewis

Phew! One of C.S. Lewis most well known works and for good reason. The post-atheist Lewis meticulously melds theology, philosophy and proofs into an easier-to-read-than-you'd-expect series of commentary on some very difficult subjects.
This book is highly recommended to anyone battling with their Christian faith and to those that question the legitimacy of the religion, especially compared to Atheism. Bear in mind, that while Lewis is an incredible writer some of these concepts aren't easily grasped and therefore requires serious attention to every jam-packed sentence.
